NATIONAL DISABILITY AND ELDERLY POLICY AND LEGAL FRAMEWORKS
The Department of Disability and Elderly Affairs coordinated the development, adoption or enactment of the following policies and laws, which falls within its mandate:
- National Policy on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (2006) currently under review
- National Policy for Older Persons (2016)
- Disability Act, 2012, a new Bill on disability Act has been developed (Persons with Disabilities, Bill) to repeal Disability Act 2012 and Handicapped Persons Act 1971.
- Disability Communication Strategy (2017)
- National Disability Mainstreaming Strategy (2018)
- National Action Plan on Persons with Albinism (2018)
- National Older Persons Bill (2021)
