MAGOMERO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COLLEGE

Magomero Community Development College plays a very important role in the development of the country. Since its establishment in the 1960s, it has trained frontline workers in Community Development and Social work. These frontline cadres have tremendously contributed to the development of this nation through facilitation of different aspects of rural development. As a government institution, it has a mandate to implement both government and Non-Governmental Organizations’ priorities in development needs of the people of Malawi.
The college is located in Chiradzulu district along the Blantyre-Zomba road, near Namadzi, just 1.5 km from the main road.
Currently the college is offering four generic programme:
- Diploma in Community Development
- Diploma in Social Work
- Certificate in Agro-Food Processing
- Certificate in Integrated Social Protection
In addition, there are short courses that are offered depending on the needs of clients.
- Provides weekend classes which are offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) centres in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Magomero.
Other initiatives includes the development of Diploma Curriculum for Adult Education and with assistance from GIZ, there was the installation of solar panel.
