WOMEN’S RIGHTS AND GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

Under this program, the department coordinates and facilitates the dissemination of the various international and regional women’s rights instruments as well as Gender Related Laws developed to ensure the full protection of women. The program also coordinates initiatives like the commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, eradication of harmful practices that perpetuate violence, drafting of state party reports as well awareness raising on GBV among others. The National Plan of Action to combat Gender Based Violence is the blueprint that governs implementation of women’s rights and GBV programs in Malawi.
