The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has launched a Model Gender and Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy.

The efforts seek to promote gender equality in institutions of higher learning.

The policy addresses some of the gender equality challenges the institutions face
Key issues to be addressed in the policy include equality between male and female students in terms of opportunities for selection.

It also looks at issues of accommodation to ensure that students have good accommodation.

UN Resident Coordinator, Maria Jose Torres Macho, Secretary for Education, Chikondano Mussa and Minister of Gender Community Development and Social Welfare, Patricia Kaliati, are also in attendance. NCHE was established in 2010 to regulate higher education in Malawi.
