Malawi Launches 2025 International Women’s Day with a Call for Gender Equality

On the day, the Deputy Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Honourable Halima Daud, MP,
officially launched the 2025 International Women’s Day celebrations in Blantyre, where she emphasized on the urgent
need for gender equality in economic opportunities.
 
The event featured a breakfast meeting, a Small and Medium Enterprise Clinic and a business expo.
 
This year's International Women's Day commemoration started on Wednesday, March 5 with a visit to Kamuzu Central
Hospital at the Ethel Mutharika Maternity Wing Kangaroo Ward where the Deputy Minister along side members of staff
from the Ministry, staff of the United Nations family, Malawi Red Cross Society, Plan Malawi and other partners donated assorted items.
