As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, Deputy Minister of Gender, Community Development, and Social Welfare,
Hon. Halima Daud, MP, today visited the Kangaroo Ward at the Ethel Mutharika Maternity Wing at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
Accompanied by representatives from the United Nations, Malawi Red Cross Society, World Vision Malawi and other partners,
as well as staff from the ministry, the Deputy Minister donated essential items to mothers in the ward.
She emphasized that the visit was a way to celebrate and appreciate women for their invaluable role in society.
This year’s International Women’s Day will be commemorated on March 7 and 8 at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre
under the theme: All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.
