The Deputy Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Honourable Halima Daud, MP, officiated the launch
of the 2025-2029 Country Strategy for Norwegian Church Aid - Dan Church Aid (NCA-DCA) on Friday, in Malawi.
The new strategy builds upon the achievements of the 2021-2024 framework, which focused on gender-based violence, inequality reduction,
climate-smart economic empowerment, and humanitarian response—key priorities in advancing gender equality and social justice in Malawi.
In her remarks, Honourable Daud expressed the Government of Malawi’s appreciation for NCA-DCA’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development.
She highlighted the organization’s alignment with Malawi 2063, the National Gender Policy, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
underscoring its role in shaping the nation’s long-term development agenda.
The new strategy prioritizes women’s empowerment, gender equality, and social justice, ensuring that women, girls, and vulnerable communities
can lead dignified lives. Honourable Daud reaffirmed the government’s dedication to breaking barriers and fostering equal opportunities for all Malawians.
She also commended NCA-DCA’s strong partnerships with local communities, which are instrumental in ensuring sustainable development and meaningful grassroots impact.
The organization’s commitment to reaching even the most remote areas was recently recognized by His Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera, who
named NCA-DCA the Best Civil Society Organization of 2024 for its exceptional service.
Honourable Daud emphasized that the success of the 2025-2029 strategy will be measured not only by the number of projects implemented but also by their transformative impact on people’s lives. She reaffirmed the Government of Malawi’s full support for the initiative, emphasizing a shared mission to Save Lives, Build Resilience, and Seek Justice—ensuring that no one is left behind.
