In a bid to enhance communication within the Social Cash Transfer Program (SCTP), the Ministry of Gender, Community Development, and Social Welfare,
With support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a communication strategy to increase awareness, transparency, and community involvement is being developed.
Speaking at a validation workshop for the strategy in Lilongwe on Monday, Principal Secretary for the Ministry, Dr. Nertha Semphere Mgala,
emphasized the crucial role of effective communication in ensuring the success of the SCTP.
She noted that the new strategy will bridge existing communication gaps and reaffirm the government’s commitment to ensure its full implementation once finalized.
The workshop brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from the government, the National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGFC),
academia, media, and development partners, all of whom provided input on the strategy’s development.
The SCTP is funded by the Malawi Government, the World Bank, Germany, and the Malawi Social Protection Multi-Donor Trust Fund,
which includes contributions from the European Union (EU), Ireland, Iceland, Norway, and the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UKFCDO).
